Keep The Cogs Turning – Design Every Day
Whilst finding myself in a design funk over the last week or two, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find motivation, or sometimes, even inspiration. We, as designers, rely on our creative noodle. Well, what do we do when that noodle is limp, and wet (not an inference!)? We must find a way to rejuvenate that noodle!
The easiest, and most efficient, way to do this is to keep those cogs turning. Avoid that funk, or that creative block, by keeping your mind inspired. In an effort to keep myself inspired, I have decided to design at least one thing a day, no matter the complexity, or lack thereof.
I urge all designers to do the same! Find webpages, magazines, books, or videos that inspire you. Allow yourself to feast on this content a little bit every day. Take that inspiration, and create something! It doesn’t matter if it takes you five minutes, or five hours, just keep yourself motivated!
After all, can we ever just tell a client “I wasn’t feeling inspiration today, I missed the deadline”?
